Job Summary

Mesoyios College is a comprehensive institution, which places primary emphasis on excellence in classroom instruction. Faculty members are expected to demonstrate and maintain competence in each of the following areas throughout their employment at the College. The person in this position shall report to the Program Supervisor or Dean of Academic Affairs.

Job Duties

Teaching and Instruction:

  • Teach classes assigned by the administration which could include but are not restricted to day or evening;
  • Provide effective instruction that encompasses active and meaningful learning activities and frequent and timely feedback to students regarding their progress;
  • Develop course curriculum, materials/handouts, lectures, and labs, and update regularly to ensure relevancy and currency;
  • Select required course resources and textbooks, working in conjunction with other faculty as appropriate, and provide this information to the appropriate dean’s office;
  • Utilize course-adopted textbook(s) and/or course resources;
  • Provide students with a course syllabus which aligns with the common course syllabus and provides information detailing learning expectations, major assignments, and methods of evaluation, and provide a copy of this syllabus to the appropriate dean’s office;
  • Participate in the development/revision and implementation of program assessment plans and utilize feedback to improve learning outcomes;
  • Maintain a total of two (2) office hours per week at assigned instructional site(s) as approved by the appropriate dean and post information on office door (up to two virtual/online office hours per week via an approved delivery format may be held in lieu of traditional hours, and office hours may be adjusted by the appropriate dean for other approved activities);
  • Keep adequate course records (including grades and attendance) and submit required records to the designated office by the established date;
  • Follow college-wide student attendance policy and drop non-attending students in a timely manner;
  • Refer at-risk students to available support resources and interventions;
  • Submit annual budget requests to the appropriate dean’s office for supplies, equipment, travel, and other instructional expenditures.

Service and Leadership

  • Attend all faculty meetings;
  • Assist and mentor new and/or adjunct faculty;
  • Participate in committee assignments;
  • Promote the College in the community through participation in community activities and organizations as appropriate;
  • Support students and activities of the College through attendance at College events and functions;
  • Be available to serve as consultants or advisors to students or prospective students and assist with communication of enrollment and course/degree planning information to students;
  • Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to achieve shared goals and strategic plan priorities;
  • Perform other duties relevant to their role as assigned by the Dean of Academic Affairs or the Principal.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in relevant field of teaching.
  • A personal and educational philosophy compatible with the goals, objectives and mission of Mesoyios College.
  • Demonstrated experience using a personal computer, office software such as MS Office and electronic mail.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public.
    • Work in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

Program Supervisor

Job Summary

This is a professional position which coordinates and facilitates academic program to meet or exceed all accreditation standards established by The Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education. This position reports to the Dean of Academic Affairs.

Job Duties

  • Teaches a maximum of fifteen (15) instructional hours per week;
  • Provides an effective and efficient system for the delivery and evaluation of program courses; monitors the instructional delivery system and provides guidance for the improvement of instructional quality;
  • Establishes program goals and objectives in cooperation with the Dean of Academic Affairs in alignment with the mission and vision of Mesoyios College;
  • Works with the Dean of Academic Affairs to develop and maintain curriculum and course syllabi. Evaluates and recommends adjustments to curriculum and procedures as needed;
  • Provides accurate information for the timely printing of class schedules, program recruitment brochures, information/application packets and the college catalog;
  • Establishes and interprets program policies consistent with College instructional policies. Recruits, counsels, and manages the selection of incoming students;
  • Coordinates student learning experiences and monitors student progress. Advises and guides students to meet expected outcomes of the program;
  • Maintains appropriate student records; compiles statistical information on students and generates appropriate reports as required by the Ministry of Education and Culture;
  • Provides an effective organization through the hiring, training, evaluation and motivation of the program instructors. Develops and maintains an organizational structure that ensures effective and efficient program operations;
  • Coordinates the preparation of the program budget and monitors budget expenditures to maximize utilization of available resources;
  • Maintains and orders appropriate equipment, supplies, library and audio visual supplies. Secures and ensures the proper working condition of facilities and equipment assigned to the program;
  • Models and sustains effective Servant-Leadership and Shared Governance practices which enhance the achievement of the vision, goals, plans and student-centered culture of Mesoyios College;

Dean of Academic Affairs

Job Summary

The Dean of Academic Affairs will be appointed by the College Council upon recommendation of the Principal. This position reports to the Principal or as designated by the Principal.

The Dean of Academic Affairs will assume primary responsibility for the supervision and evaluation of all academic programs, faculty, staff, and other areas designated by the Principal.

Job Duties

  • Recommend to the Principal academic course schedules, faculty, and room assignments;
  • Work with the Program Supervisors in preparing class schedules and utilizing instructional resources;
  • Conduct research relating to instructional services and facilities in coordination with the Program Supervisors;
  • Prepare an annual budget for the academic areas;
  • Serve on the College’s Committees;
  • Develop and promote Educational Development;
  • Collect, interpret, and present data for the continuous evaluation and revision of academic programs;
  • Recommend to the Principal the employment of all certified personnel relating to academic areas;
  • Assist the Principal in determining overload pay and issuing contracts;
  • Work with the Program Supervisors in the accumulation and organization of data on community educational needs;
  • Recommend to the Principal the selection of textbooks and other educational materials to be used in academic classes;
  • Review, and approve as appropriate, requisitions for instructional supplies and equipment to be used in academic programs;
  • Assume responsibility for the evening academic programs;
  • Work with the Student Affairs Officer regarding the student advisory program;
  • Recommend to the Principal all academic professional leave requests;
  • Serve on the College Council;
  • Maintain and supervise updating of course syllabi for academic course offerings;
  • Assist the Principal in accreditation activities from The Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education;
  • Assume responsibility for maintaining active professional membership in local and national organizations;
  • Work to establish instructional sites within the service area outside of the community college district;
  • Work to further establish the College as the cultural and educational center of the community;
  • Oversee quality of instruction and course content of all academic courses and programs;
  • Assume responsibility for establishing and maintaining an evaluation system for all academic programs, including oversight of the assessment process, data collection and analysis for continuous evaluation and revision of academic programs, use of assessment results to improve student learning, and allocation of budgeted resources to support and sustain the assessment program;
  • Ensure that the quality of examinations is according to the College’s Academic Regulations;
  • Ensure that all academic portfolios are completed by the faculty in a satisfactory manner;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or person designated by the Principal.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD or Doctorate degree from an accredited institution of higher education in business or public administration, education or an academic discipline; and three (3) years of successful, professional experience in an educational/training setting in the areas of program development, budget administration, or instructional administration.
  • Demonstrated competence in working with various internal and external stakeholders to promote, structure, and evaluate College programming.
